Negroni Week at Tutoni's

NegroniWeek2018_Horiz_LIGHT-color.jpg

Welcome to #NegroniWeek, presented by Imbibe Magazine and Campari. Negroni Week launched in 2013 as a celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charities around the world. From 2013 to 2017, Negroni Week grew from about 120 participating venues to over 7,700 venues around the world, and to date, they have collectively raised nearly $1.5 million for charitable causes.

For one week every June, bar and restaurants mix classic Negronis and Negroni variations for a great cause. To participate, each venue signs up at negroniweek.com, chooses from our list of official charity partners, and makes an immediate donation to that charity. Then they can return during and after Negroni Week to make additional donations to their chosen charity. After Negroni Week is complete, we tally up how much was raised collectively by all of our participating bars, restaurants and partners.

And we are happy to be participating this year! Our charity of choice is the James Beard Foundation. The James Beard Foundation’s mission is to celebrate, nurture and honor chefs and other leaders making America’s food culture more delicious, diverse and sustainable for everyone.

Al Fresco

Come to Marketview Arts on May 17th from 6-8pm for a beautiful night with live music, small bites, cocktails, beer and wine.

"As much as we wanted to celebrate the warm, sunny outdoors and beauty of Cherry Lane, it doesn't look like that is in the cards for us tomorrow night. Given the recent storms we didn't think you'd love being under a big tent either.

Therefore, we have made the decision to move this event inside to the Gallery Hall at Marketview Arts (Third Floor, 37 W. Philadelphia Street York, PA 17401).

This is a beautiful space if you have never been there, and we can't wait to transform it for the event. There will still be great small bite stations, a cash bar, and of course some GREAT live music from Rue de la Pompe... and you'll be nice and dry to boot!

Many, many thanks to the York College Center for Community Engagementcrew for accommodating us tomorrow night at Marketview! We will see you at 6 and thanks for your understanding of Mother Nature.

-Team Tutoni's

•••

About The Space:
Marketview Arts is the hub for culture and creativity for York College in the community. Fine Arts majors have the opportunity to hone their craft in the York College Studios while finding inspiration in the numerous art galleries throughout the building. Graphic Design majors have access to an extensive collection of historic printing presses in the letterpress studio. This unique resource gives students hands-on experience exploring centuries-old printing techniques. Spanning 2,000 square feet, the rotating art exhibitions in Gallery Hall are the perfect backdrop for performing arts recitals and community events."

The food for this year's event will follow our catering style called "Aperitivo"- the Italian tradition of enjoying drinks and small bites. We will have multiple stations set up- think seafood, prosciutto, and other classic favorites.
You pay one price of $25 and you can enjoy all the different foods.

Back by popular demand! Rue de la Pompe will be performing at this year's Al Fresco. They are an all-acoustic band with a blend of vintage swing, contemporary American popular song, Latin rhythm, hot jazz, French Musette and the elegant romanticism of 1930's European string bands. You won't want to miss their tunes!

There will be a separate cash bar available as well. (Just come and enjoy the band and drinks if you please!)

Z. Alexander & Black Stallion Wine Dinner

original.jpeg

Enjoy a 5 course chef's table and wine pairings from Z. Alexander Brown and Black Stallion wineries on April 25th!
Special guest Shaun Coakley from Delicato Wines will be at Tutoni's to talk about how the wine was made and give some history of the two wineries. Chef Dave and owner Toni Calderone will put together bites and sips that pair perfectly.

Even more reason to raise a glass! A portion of the proceeds of this dinner will go to Nature's Recipe, a non profit focused on nurturing and nourishing York City's youth.

About Z. Alexander Brown:
"Zac Brown has always been a man on a journey. Most know him for his music, yet his artistry and creative spirit are without boundaries. No matter where the adventure takes him, Zac has always remained downhome and truthful to his roots. His lifelong connection to the land and passion for bringing music, food, and people together was a natural path to wine.

John Killebrew, who grew up in California, developed a love for nature, gardening, cooking, and music at an early age. Though he and Zac grew up on opposite ends of the country, distance did not stop them from sharing a common passion and respect for the land.

As a winemaker, John is able to tap into his desire to make things with his own hands, stay immersed in nature, and find each season’s expression through the vines. Z. Alexander Brown is the reward of this relentless commitment and partnership with Zac to create bold “uncaged” wines rooted in the heart of California wine country. "

About Black Stallion:
"The name Black Stallion Estate Winery celebrates the property’s rich equestrian history. The estate was once home to the Silverado Horseman’s Center with ambling riding trails, stables and the area’s only indoor arena.

Black Stallion Estate Winery showcases the best of Napa Valley’s diverse winegrowing appellations. We carefully select grapes from a multitude of vineyards, individual vineyard blocks and often rows within a block. By combining the strengths of each lot, vineyard and appellation, our Winemaker crafts world-class wines, brimming with bold, rich flavors and gracious mouthfilling textures. Each wine reflects Napa Valley sophistication, finesse and harmony. "

*gratuity is included*

About Knappogue Castle:
"In 1966, Mark Edwin Andrews purchased Knappogue Castle, a 15th century castle in Ireland, which was then in ruins. He and his wife, a prominent architect, then embarked on an ambitious program of restoration, in an effort to return the structure to its original state of glory and grandeur. It was around this time that Andrews began buying casks of fine pot still whiskey from top distilleries in the country. The casks were further aged and bottled under what is now the Knappogue Castle label. His last bottling, a 1951 vintage aged 36 years, is revered by connoisseurs as the oldest and rarest commercially available Irish whiskey on the market. Many years later, his son, Mark Andrews III, would bring Knappogue 1951 and his father's legacy to the United States and other international markets.

Knappogue Castle Single Malt Irish Whiskey is named for the castle which inspired it, but the word itself has a meaning of its own. Knappogue (pronounced Nah’ Pogue) translates to hill of the kiss in Gaelic. Such a romantic word is only fitting for such a beautiful and iconic landmark."

Looking for a great date night? What about dinner & a movie on March 3? We're providing the romantic dinner, and Appell Center for the Performing Arts will be showing CapFilm: Big Night!

Haven't heard of Big Night? Well, it's about Chef Primo (Tony Shalhoub) and businessman Secondo (Stanley Tucci), who are immigrant brothers from Italy that open their dream restaurant in New Jersey. However, Primo's authentic food is too unfamiliar for the local tastes, and the restaurant is struggling. When a famous Italian-American bandleader is scheduled to appear at their restaurant, the two brothers put all of their efforts into the important meal that will likely decide the fate of their restaurant.

Tickets for dinner & the movie are available for $55.00 per person. This includes a three-course dinner at Tutoni's with gratuity and your film ticket. Tickets are limited, so get them sooner rather than later!

J. Lohr Wine Dinner with Guest James Wallace

Screen Shot 2017-11-07 at 12.06.44 PM.png

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines out of California has been an industry pioneer for the last 50+ years. Focusing on "wines with flavor," they specialize in sustainable practices and a respect for the land on which they grow. Founder Jerry Lohr first took a chance on growing in the Central Coast in the 60's and his vision still lives on today.

On January 11th, J.Lohr representative James Wallace will host a wine dinner at Tutoni's. An industry veteran, Wallace will walk guests through wine pairings for five courses from the chefs at Tutoni's.

*Gratuity not included, please plan to bring night-of.

More about J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines and the legacy of Jerry Lohr:
"Four decades ago, the California Central Coast had not yet emerged as one of North America’s world-class winegrowing regions. With little history or viticultural precedent, planting on the Central Coast was a gamble. One of an handful of early pioneers, Jerry Lohr was among the first to realize the inherent potential of Monterey and Paso Robles for producing high quality grapes and superb wines.

It’s no coincidence that the Central Coast’s emergence as a world class winegrowing region runs parallel with the establishment and growth of J. Lohr Vineyards & Winery. Founder Jerry Lohr is one of the region’s pioneers and has played a larger-than-life role in bringing the area to prominence.

Jerry’s instincts led him to two regions located about 75 miles apart. In the early 1970s, he chose Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco district for its cool, windy climate and rocky soils as ideal for Chardonnay. In the 1980s, he recognized the potential of Paso Robles for growing Bordeaux varietals, especially Cabernet Sauvignon – given the area’s rich soils and dramatic diurnal temperature swings between warm days and cool nights.

After Jerry Lohr’s nearly decade-long search for the right place to plant his first vineyard, he chose a site in Monterey County that was to become the heart of the Arroyo Seco appellation. Jerry originally planted 280 acres in 1972 and 1973 near Greenfield. Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation has proved ideal for growing layered, complex Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Brisk winds and fog off Monterey Bay, stony, well-drained soils, and a lack of damaging fall rains all combine to produce grapes with trademark fruit intensity and balancing acidity. In 1974, Jerry unveiled the first J. Lohr winery in San Jose.

In the early 1980s, Jerry Lohr saw the potential for great Cabernet Sauvignon further south. Borrowing a lesson from the French—that great Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon excel in very different growing conditions—Jerry began planting Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varieties in San Luis Obispo County’s little-known Paso Robles region in 1986. With the hands-on devotion of an artisan farmer, Jerry tended to the vines while diligently working toward the creation and development of an adjacent winery and barreling cellars; J. Lohr’s Paso Robles production facility was opened in 1988. "

Feast of the Seven Fishes Dinner

feast of seven fishes.jpg

What is the Feast of the Seven Fishes? It's what Italians do when they say they're fasting.
"More precisely, the Feast is a meal served in Italian households on La Vigilia (Christmas Eve). In many parts of Italy, the night is traditionally a partial fast, during which no meat should be served. But in true Italian style, this proscription has morphed into something very unfastlike indeed: course after course of luxurious seafood dishes.... Regardless of the religious symbolism, for most people the main point of the meal is to gather family and friends and enjoy delicious food. " - Epicurious.com

Join us Dec 23rd at 5:30 for a feast like no other. Bring family, bring friends, and sit down for course after course of expertly prepared Italian inspired seafood.

He has been a popular guest speaker at many top venues including the American Wine Society and the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. He has also been interviewed on TV and radio shows in the US and Chile.

Italo does not hail from a winemaking family. His interest in wine was sparked while taking wine classes in the pursuit of a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Chile’s prestigious Catholic University. From there he went to Tulsa College, Oklahoma, to perfect his English before moving to California where he continued his wine education and gained his first hands-on winemaking experience.
Italo is responsible for all export operations for Concha y Toro, as well as overseeing top-level export operations for Trivento, Concha y Toro’s sister winery in Argentina."

The SIN Social: New Artist Launch Party: Terri Yacovelli

The SIN Social at the TT Bar: When the service industry falls in love with art over great food and drinks.
Every 1st Monday of the month join us for our New Artist Launch Party- New artist Terri Yacovelli will be in attendance featuring her work and we'll have food and drink specials upstairs and at the #ttbar.
*EVERY Monday: Service industry professionals (hospitality, first responders, etc) will get an extra 10% off with the proof of a paystub or ID.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Terri Yacovelli was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She holds a Masters of Liberal Arts degree from McDaniel College in Maryland and earned an undergraduate degree from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Her work has been included in solo and juried exhibits across the east coast in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and New York. Recent work has been featured in the International Encaustic Artists juried exhibition held at the San Luis-Obispo Museum of Art, California.
Although trained as a traditional oil painter, Ms. Yacovelli now paints with a blowtorch. Encaustic wax painting is a hot medium created from oil paint and bees wax. Each layer of the wax is fused to the previous layer using a blowtorch. The wax can be poured or used in a painterly manner. It can be stamped and carved into, and layers can be scraped away to reveal previous layers and marks. Working through the stages of different cooling temperatures can build interesting texture and surface treatment. The wax quite often has a will of its own, forcing the artist to abandon preconceived notions and give in to the medium and moment.
Ms. Yacovelli is currently a studio art teacher and serves as an adjunct professor of art at York College of Pennsylvania. An avid traveler and gardener, she resides in York Pennsylvania with her family.
